TIL&GFF celebrates its 20th anniversary by screening ten international hit queer flicks this fall. The opening film is Berlin’s Panorama Award-winning Romeos, a drama about a shy young transgender man and his cheeky boyfriend—who eventually discovers the secret behind his lover’s sexuality. Wish Me Away documents American country singer Chely Wright’s emotional process of coming out in her conservative hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, while We Were Here records memories of five survivors of the AIDS crisis in San Francisco during the early 1980s. Coming Out Story is the only Japanese queer film to be screened. All films have English subtitles except for Tomboy, which is available in French only.
