Want to nurse a White Russian like the Dude in The Big Lebowski or down a Manhattan like Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot? How about a steak served with exactly 12 peas, the favorite meal of the obsessive Howard Hughes in The Aviator? You can do that and more as Nishi-Azabu restaurant Veranda transforms into Cinema Lounge 100 (20-24-3 Nishi-Azabu, Minato-ku. http://cl-100.com) for 100 days until June 5. The project is designed to expose customers to the pleasures of foreign cinema and encourage young people to go out to the movies more. The cocktails (all ¥900), food and desserts are all based on films—both recent and classic. Each drink comes on a coaster designed by illustrator Keiji Takamatsu, who is also displaying movie star portraits constructed out of craft paper.
