The selections from his 500-plus producing credits included Death Race 2000 (1975; pictured), Rock ’n’ Roll High School (1979) and the doc Corman’s World. The man himself will be in Japan in October to head the Tokyo International Film Festival jury.

The French hit film The Intouchables will screen from September 1 at Shinjuku Musashinokan (3-27-10 Shinjuku; http://shinjuku.musashino-k.jp). The drama tells the story of rich quadriplegic who develops an unlikely friendship with the underprivileged man he hires to care for him. The drama became one of the most successful French films ever made.

Dance fans will want to head to Bunkamura’s Le Cinema (2-24-1 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku; www.bunkamura.co.jp) to check out Une vie de ballets from September 8.
