Asakusa Yabusame 2026
Apr 18, 2026 at 11:30am ~ Apr 18, 2026 at 3:30pm
Asakusa Yabusame 2026 showcases a striking display of traditional Japanese horseback archery, a martial art dating back to the Edo period. Archers dressed in samurai hunting attire ride at full speed while shooting arrows at wooden targets, demonstrating a combination of precision, focus and control.
Asakusa Yabusame 2026 begins with kusajishi, a stationary archery demonstration held at Sanyabori Park, before transitioning to the main yabusame performance at Sumida Park. During the main event, riders gallop along a designated course while aiming at multiple targets, recreating a practice once used by samurai for training and ritual purposes.
Set against the historic backdrop of Asakusa, the event attracts large crowds each year due to its visual appeal and cultural significance. Spectators can watch for free from the surrounding park areas, while reserved seating is also available for a closer view of the action.
