Edogawa City Fireworks Festival

Aug 01, 2026 at 7:15pm ~ Aug 01, 2026 at 8:20pm

One of Tokyo’s biggest summer spectacles returns as the Edogawa Ward Fireworks Festival celebrates its 51st year. After last year’s milestone 50th anniversary event, this beloved festival continues a tradition that has delighted audiences for more than half a century.

The festival draws crowds with its impressive scale, launching around 14,000 fireworks throughout the evening. Music synchronized to the displays adds to the atmosphere, creating a dramatic soundtrack as vibrant colors light up the sky. One of the standout moments comes at the very start, when around 1,000 fireworks burst into the air in just five seconds, setting the stage for an unforgettable night.

Visitors can also enjoy the festival’s famous Mt. Fuji fireworks display, one of Japan’s largest firework tributes to the iconic mountain. The show concludes with the Golden Weeping Willow, a breathtaking curtain of golden sparks that spreads across the night sky.

To add a community element, organizers invited the public to submit ideas for new fireworks displays. Sohke Hanabi Kagiya, the renowned fireworks company behind the festival, will bring the selected concepts to life.

The venue lies about a 15-minute walk from JR Ichikawa Station and a 30-minute walk from JR Motoyawata Station. Follow the crowds from either station and you’ll soon arrive at one of Tokyo’s most anticipated summer events.
