SentoSensations 2025: Music Festival at a Bathhouse

Nov 22, 2025 at 12:00pm ~ Nov 22, 2025 at 9:00pm

Back for its fourth edition, SentoSensations returns to the iconic Denki-yu bathhouse on November 22 with a full day of sound, art and craft inspired by Tokyo’s creative underground and the wider Asian region.

The sento, located near Tokyo Skytree, opened in 1922. While its facade remains modest, the spacious bath has long been a cornerstone of neighborhood life. In recent years, it has embraced a new generation’s experimental ideas, hosting creative events and collaborations.

Musicians from across Asia will gather for live performances. And yes, you can even listen while soaking your feet in a foot bath. The program also features talk panels with some of Tokyo’s most exciting creative voices, plus a stunning textile exhibition by a celebrated designer from Singapore. To top it off, enjoy craft beer from Baird Brewing, Thai BBQ, and Hong Kong–style craft soda.

Canadian music artist Demsky will perform, marking a return to his early downtempo roots with his new album Jugaad. The title comes from a Hindi word meaning a clever, resourceful way of solving problems with limited means.

The festival also celebrates the launch of sankaku’s third volume, GODS. Sankaku is an independent print publication that celebrates people and craft, and this issue brings together specialists on Japanese religion and talented illustrators. Stories include an essay on mythological imagery in anime, a deep dive into the folk dance culture of Iwami Kagura from Shimane, and a historical survey of Buddhist temple cuisine seen through modern eyes. The paperback will be available at SentoSensations 3.
