Contemporary dancer and choreographer Kenshi Nohmi offers an “invitation to a catharsis” in the form of his new piece, White Reflection. With a background in modern and contemporary dance as well as ballet at Juliard in New York, Nohmi founded Dance Teatro 21 as a vehicle for his ideas about breathing and physical expression. Words like “primitive” and “simple” have been used to describe his fast-paced choreography, which has appeared in contexts ranging from ballet to TV dramas. Joining Nohmi for White Reflection is respected dancer Koji Mizuta, until recently a member of New York’s Merce Cunningham company.
