Tokyo Jazz just celebrated its tenth anniversary, but Yokohama boasts 30 years of jazz fests. Take that Tokyo! Yokohama’s largest fest is the Jazz Promenade, which each year brings literally thousands of musicians to jazz clubs, halls and street corners across the city. This year’s big guns come in the form of the ten-member Jazz At The Promenade big band while Sax Supper Session features three of the country’s top blowers. From overseas are freewheeling Dutch sax player Yuri Honing with Wired Paradise and lively New Orleans-flavored Canadian jazz-funk act the Shuffle Demons.
Various venues, Oct 8-9 (listing).
