Andras Ikladi: “The Floating World” Photography Exhibition

Feb 09, 2026 at 12:00pm ~ Feb 09, 2026 at 7:00pm

Hungarian photographer András Ikladi brings the spirit of Edo-period ukiyo-e into contemporary street photography in his debut Japanese solo exhibition. The collection, titled “The Floating World / 浮世,” showcases 36 striking black-and-white film works captured with a Leica, capturing surreal moments where joy and sorrow collide in everyday life. The works feature vertical compositions that echo traditional woodblock prints, exploring the dual meaning of ukiyo, with the transition from “sorrowful world” to “floating world.” The exhibition presents dreamlike imagery where monks laugh, children play, and the mundane becomes extraordinary, offering a modern lens on a classic Japanese aesthetic.
