Right in the neon heart of Shinjuku, this open-air bon odori mixes traditional folk-dance standards with modern pop numbers, and anyone can jump into the circle. A lively taiko performance from Tokyo Otome Taiko anchors the night. It’s one of the most accessible and welcoming festivals on the calendar — no yukata required, though plenty of people wear one. This year’s dates are confirmed for August 14–15, 2026, running 4pm–8pm at Cine City Square in Kabukicho, with free admission.
