Tokyo Yakatabune Cooperative will be offering an exciting AR (augmented reality) tour experience along the Sumida river in early 2022.
From March onwards visitors can jump aboard a traditional yakatbune (Japanese houseboat) and step back into the Edo period using the latest AR technology. Through the exclusive app, fireworks, fish and the landscapes of Edo period Tokyo will be brought to life on your smartphone or tablet when viewing the boat’s surroundings. This experience will be a chance for locals and tourists alike to see Tokyo in a new light, as it was 400 years ago.

Free tours will be made available in early January, will official tours going on sale from March onwards, more details to come via this page.
