Takahiro Komuro solo exhibition “The Hollow Ritual”

Oct 18, 2025 at 12:00pm ~ Nov 15, 2025 at 7:00pm

HENKYO gallery will host “The Hollow Ritual”, sculptor Takahiro Komuro’s first solo exhibition in two years, starting October 18, 2025. The exhibition will feature 17 new wood carvings that explore the loss of faith in a “post-religious” era.

About Artist

Takahiro Komuro

Born in 1985. A sculptor based in Tokyo. Influenced by the toy culture of the 1980s and 1990s and Japanese views of faith , he develops his own unique world of sculpture, primarily using wood carvings and soft vinyl. With a critical perspective that reinterprets sculpture as “worship,” he creates works that address the hollowing out of faith and institutions in modern times.

Exhibition Theme

The exhibition showcases three distinct series:

  • “Mushussu” blends horror aesthetics with RPG final-boss designs, reimagining the “sublime” in a world of consumption.
  • The “Heads” series critiques the ambiguity of worship, combining public, toy, and statue elements to question the boundaries of reverence.
  • A soft vinyl dragon statue reverses the concept of modern personal altars, reducing sculpture to a toy-like form.

Don’t miss the chance to explore this thought-provoking exploration of faith, sculpture, and modern worship!
