Brazilian chanteuse Roberta Sa arrives for her first concerts in Japan, in the company of a figure who’s already familiar to local audiences. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, the 30-year-old Sa is using her crystalline voice to reshape Brazilian samba, bossa nova and maracatu in a modern context. Joining her is Pedro Luis, who in the mid-’90s injected the same music with elements of rap, funk and hip-hop. Luis also boasts an impressive track record in Japan, having toured here with Kazufumi Miyazawa of The Boom and scored a chart hit with the single “Pena de Vida.”
