Hiroshi Koike, founder of the dance/theater group Pappa Tarahumara, presents his second consecutive work based on a European novel. Punk Don Quixote follows last year’s Gulliver & Swift (inspired by Gulliver’s Travels) but, Koike says, “Our production does not tell the story of the Don Quixote book, but embodies the spirit of the work.” The performance features song, absurdist drama and all manner of contemporary dance, from butoh to physical theater. As with Gulliver & Swift, the staging promises eye-catching sets and, if past shows are any judge, should offer compelling entertainment.
