A new exhibition provides an opportunity to view two of the world’s great cultural capitals through the lens of a father of modern photography. William Eggleston was among the first to use color photography as an artistic rather than commercial medium, and is known for turning his “democratic eye” on urban life. The show presents works from a recent three-year commission in Paris and an earlier one in Kyoto, a city he calls his favorite. Also on exhibit for the first time worldwide are Eggleston’s little-known paintings.
